Exciting Finds!

Hello dear Pinkies, followers and readers!
After some days of heavy rain, I finally managed to have some pictures of my latest finds taken! I know you were waiting for them!;) You bet my eyes popped out of my head when saw this treasure waiting for me at the thrift shop last week! An antique Muller sewing machine...

Aren't these flowers gorgeous? Just think when the design was fully visible... my oh my!

Have a super duper weekend everyone!

Quail Eggs for Display.

The coveted re-awakening, at last!...
The first divinely scented yellow primroses spotted this morning while strolling with Kim in the woods... A precious gift from Mother Nature in our own garden, a big empty nest to use as Spring display... Some quail eggs from last year... A thrifted vintage dish...

Don't you just dream of outdoor living and light dresses??... I do!

Here is my 'recipe' for quail eggs to use in seasonal displays: boil them for 10 minutes, then let dry. These are last year's and I have some older too. As they are not that cheap, I use to keep them year after year, they play such a great role in Spring-y and Easter displays! Once dried, they become very light and fragile, so be careful not to break them.
Enjoy this fabulous Season (if you're not covered by a snow blanket or are in the other emisphere!).

Scottish Gem.

These pictures were all taken back in April 2007.
... Are you tired of Winter and just longing for "daffodils fluttering and dancing in the wind" ???

Typical things you can see while strolling about: Edinburgh Castle...

Scottish flags everywhere...

Amazing art...

Stunning ancient buildings...

My hubby is a fan of Sir Sean Connery- this image was taken outside the shop where he orders all of his kilts (Sean Connery, not my hubby!! LOL).

This is the commemorative statue and fountain of Greyfriars Bobby, the Skye Terrier and faithful companion that spent 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until he died himself.

A spectacular view of Princes Street from Calton Hill...

Princes Street Gardens, a public park in the shadow of the castle...

.... and the fabulous Royal Botanic Garden!

The gate is a wondrous work of art, isn't it!

And the greenhouses... no words to describe what you can find inside!!

The Garden is the dwelling place of many animals... look at the cat! Hehe Poor unaware ducks!

Many squirrels keep you company while you're visiting!

Please be kind and don't give them unhealthy food! I'm pretty sure bread and jam make their mouth water, but they would be better if fed properly (and not too much). Poor little thing, he's not that skinny uh?

And finally, some shots by night!
Camera Obscura...

... Princes Street at sunset...

... the National Gallery of Scotland...

Bank of Scotland...

And look at this! A beautiful shot of St. Giles Cathedral courtesy my hubby! He was soo proud of this shot and I'm proud of him too!

... and lastly, Edinburgh my way, after a loong day walking up and down!

Hope I've inspired you to plan a romantic escape to Edinburgh and Scotland as well! You won't be disappointed!

Favorite Finds.

This is my contribution to Pink Saturday this week, a few favorite finds of mine!
I cannot pass by roses of any kind...
This is an Italian piece, a Capodimonte candle- holder. My Granny had some of these flowers at home (and she loved them so they are dear to my heart!), my Mom and I still have a couple of them.  Last week I found this pink rose and a similar yellow one too.

Love ephimera, these postcards are quite impressive, with a black/dark background.

Have a lovely weekend, hopefully sunny and warm. Despite we had a snow sprinkle again last week,  I noticed all my bulbs are sprouting up! ... I'm so doing the happy dance!

Tiramisu with Style.

When I'm in a hurry but want to dazzle my guests, or treat my hubby and me to something special, I make a cup of tiramisu (one per person) served with style!

Have a happy day!

Just for Fun!

First, a huge thank you for all your enthusiastic comments about my collection of vintage Valentines, and for the Ribbon Rose Tutorial- hope you have fun with it!
Then, I have to catch up with  a few promises I made on my previous posts... hope I'll make you smile with some drawings I made when a young girl! Thanks to my Dad I still have these and my pointe shoes (and other lovelies) as well!
Here is my very first professional painting LOL, oil on wood (at 3 y.o.)! I liked to keep company to my Grandfather in his studio while he was painting, and he used to give me the remnants of his colors... An art critic, who used to write about my Grandfather's art, came at home one day and saw it, and he told that he could read something really special in my little artwork (I was told by my Granny) and told her I was an artist :))). I'm soo glad my Dad kept all these treasures for me to enjoy when older.

My first attempt at a mixed media painting! It's my Dad- very resembling actually!:)

It looks like I had a passion for clowns...

... and for snowmen!

I was a little older when made this one, but unfortunately no date on the back.

Flowers and violets... oh yea!

A spring-y windy day, as it looks from the blowing pink clouds, blue sky and cheery flowers in the garden!

7 y.o ... I already loved chicks! Hehe

A hint at Friendship in Blogland??!

12 y.o. this reminds me of Sunflowers by Van Gogh...the flower shape and the vase (not the colors, actually).

A copy of The Birth of Venus by Botticelli... 12 y.o.

Familiar landscapes in Italy... where I used to spend summer holidays with my Grandparents... 13 y.o.

14 y.o, that's me! At school they requested to draw a self-portrait, and this is what I made! Well, my passion for Nature and color (and oops- sweets too) is obvious!

First attempt to draw a nude, 14 y.o ...

15 y.o, my "fashion designer period". Isn't this Princess dress just amazing??

Hope you enjoyed looking at them, as much as I did after many years! It was a stroll down memory lane... thank you Daddy!
